I just need to write it down before I forget it. Feel free to ignore. I don't even know if it will make its way into NaNo, or if I'll make a series out of this book. So here we go.

"Listen, Fe. I like you. Like, a lot. And I know we didn't get off to the best start ever, but I thought you'd just should know."

She closed her eyes and ran her hands back through her hair. "I've had sort of enough of people confessing to me. Christian's was more than I think I can handle--"

"Chris is a great guy, I know, but he's a real dumbass. And he's never serious about it. You're not the first one he's professed his undying devotion to, but generally the mustang is a car not an actual horse." Othello gathered up his things, avoiding making eye contact with her. "So don't take it too seriously."

"Are you telling me this because you don't want me to get hurt?"

"If I didn't want you to get hurt, I'd tell you to stop chasing after Finn. But no, that's not my place, and I know you're smart enough to not actually believe Chris." When he glanced at her, the blush had settled immediately into her cheeks and she hunkered down in her chair.

"You knew?"

"About Finn?"

She nodded.

"It was a little obvious."

"Oh."

She didn't make an effort to say anything else, so Othello let out a sigh and swung his bag over his shoulder. "I'll see you around, okay? Just keep in mind what I said." He made it halfway to the door before her voice caught up with him.

"He turned me down."

Othello froze, blue eyes fixated on the distant door. "I'm sorry."

"He took me to meet her. The girl he likes. It was sort of passive aggressive, really, and I think I'm sort of mad at him for being a dick about it. But I'm over it. I think. I really don't know. It still hurts a bit."

He turned to face her, surprised that she met his gaze and held it steady. "I know."

Fe smiled, though it wobbled at the edges and wasn't entirely too convincing. "I'm glad you're home."

He wavered in his spot, his feet and brain unable to decide what direction to move. So he just returned the smile and said, "Me too."
