Oh yeah. They're hella gay.

Thanks to lu/@smallpolar_bear on twitter, don't you worry, there's going to be more, I just wanted to post what I had.

Captain Even Gardner,
That sounds so formal. I can hear your laughter now, as you brush aside the title with a smile, yet I must adhere to some level of respectability. I cannot have you thinking I am as wild and rebellious as Grand tries to paint me as. I promise that I do have some level of control.

Perhaps I’ll take you up on your offer to visit you in the city, when the weather is better. It took a force of effort on Grand’s part to lure me away from the warmth of my hearth to join him on this trip, though having met your acquaintance, I am glad that he is as persuasive as he is.

Regardless, I merely wanted to thank you for our chat at the club two nights ago. You might not think yourself eloquent, but I found myself inspired by your words all the same—if it is not too forward of me to say.

Feel free to write back if you are inclined. This address is the best and most reliable way to ensure I get my letters—the post often does not like to make the journey all the way to my house.
— Respectfully, Cascabel

Mr Cascabel,
I am beyond flattered that you think the agitated grumblings of an old veteran are as eloquent as you seem to imply. It is, perhaps, one of the kindest (if not most untrue) statements anyone has ever said to me. You are young, but not naive, so I will take the compliment given.

I often find myself in the country. A dear friend of mine owns a sanatorium out that way with her wife, which I have found recent cause to visit. It is nice, besides, to escape the city. I shall send word of my next trip out, and, perhaps, if it does not impose upon your hospitality, I shall call upon you.
— Sincerely, Even Gardner, Retired

Mr Gardner, then,
Let me assure you that your presence will be welcome, if it can be spared from the city.

And I speak not to aim for flattery, but merely on honesty, born of my first impression of you.

I eagerly await a missive, though I hope your health stays hale yet. Do not think that I wish you physically ill so that you might have reason to visit.
— Respectfully, Cascabel

Mr Cascabel,
I can assure you that my health is fine, but on the occasion that I need an extra bet of assistance, I am able to make use of services available to me. I do not take offense, so please do not feel troubled.

In fact, I am quite eager to further our conversation from the club, as I thought of a good retort to the question posed in regards to duty of honor versus duty of service. I wish to see what sort of expression you’ll make straight off for hearing it, that I don’t want to ruin the moment by penning it to you.

A man’s first impulse is always the most honest. I quite enjoyed the unreserved enthusiasm you presented to me, and am eager to question you further on a topic that you are so keenly passionate about.

It makes me miss the me who was like that.
— Sincerely, Even Gardner

Mr Gardner,
Now who is the one writing flattery?

And in regards to your telegram, yes, I’ll be free to dine Thursday evening. I’ve enclosed the address of a pub I quite enjoy, and hopefully will be to your tastes.
— Respectfully, Cascabel
